Pronounced Tink-kee-a-da, Tinkyáda® Pasta JOY™ has undergone an intriguing evolution in its name. When deciding upon the original product name, Food Directions elected to fashion a name based on the fusion of the names of two related individuals, Ada and her daughter Tinky, to create Tinkyáda. Despite the initial challenge of pronouncing the name, customers remember the quality product within its attractive and colorful packaging. Later, Food Directions added the trademark name Pasta JOY™ to Tinkyáda® to lead the brand and capture the feeling of thousands of customers who have contacted Food Directions to convey their utter delight in finding this top quality gluten-free pasta. The sub-word “Ready” in the brand’s name depicts a “ready picture” of what Pasta JOY™ delivers: classic taste and texture, whole-grain and no-gluten ingredients, nutritional benefits, good consistency, al dente texture, convenience of preparation within minutes and… JOY on demand if you will. And not to be forgotten is the “a” after “P” in Pasta, which the company transcends graphically to approximate the universal symbol for infinity. Last but not least, who are the adorable bunnies on the package? The cartoon of Ada and Tinky holding a grain of rice (gluten-free Pasta JOY™) has become the eye-catching and memorable brand symbol for adults, seniors and children alike.

COMPANY HISTORY
Recognizing the growing market demand for a delicious and healthy gluten-free pasta with a texture that holds up in the cooking process and can withstand a bit of overcooking without becoming mushy, Food Directions, Inc. of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada founded its company vision in the 1990s. Since first launching Tinkyáda® Pasta JOY ™ in 1997, “I can’t believe it’s not wheat!” has been a popular and ecstatic response that Food Directions has received from its customers around the world.

Through years of exhaustive research and experimentation, Food Directions developed a unique technique to produce an exceptional rice pasta product that replicates the look and mouth-feel of a gourmet Italian pasta with a delicious, signature taste all its own. Using a blend of traditional pasta-making methods and modern technology, Food Directions focuses on the critical element of texture and a perfect combination of stone-ground rice and water to produce a light, fine quality gluten-free product.

Since day one, Food Directions has been committed to helping those who are gluten-intolerant to Recover the Joy of Pasta by Discovering Tinkyada® and has methodically grown its product line from to 5 original rice pastas to 18 different products that include 5 certified organic rice versions. Continuous quality improvement is the guiding hallmark of production at Food Directions and if you think Tinkyáda® Pasta JOY ™ is remarkable now you can look forward to enjoying continuous improvements in taste and texture to this consistently great product. For the immediate future, Food Directions has no plans to produce other GF products in addition to their rice pastas because they believe in the advantages of specializing instead of brand extensions and that there is more than enough JOY to go around simply by making rice pasta.
